Periodically, KRucial Reggae puts on a live show in tribute to the King of Reggae. His music remains so popular, and the Dub Station band - with a host of outstanding vocalists - makes each performance a powerful rendition of the legendary song list. This particular show featured the CD release of Roberto Gell's "Work Hard" - an East Coast Debut - that not only went very well, but was captured in a 5-camera shoot. The Newsletter below came out during the week leading up to the event, in October of 2011.
For more information about what we do, including if you're interested in putting on such a show, please visit this site's Contact page...

What makes this show different?
|
|
As so me of you may know, the Dub Station band is celebrating 18 years on stage this year. If you weren't there for the kickoff in May, there was an outstanding slide show, and a hard copy photo book available. The group's worked with hundreds of singers over the years. Many have come and gone, but we're pleased to present you a few outstanding vocalists: Dion Knibb (pictured to the left, with one of the most powerful pipes in the biz); Sandra D (who's also an amazing backup singer); and Jem-i (who's spirited renditions of the classics get you moving!). New life can always be breathed into Bob's work. And we all love the tunes (as do you), so it's going to be a blast, guaranteed. And it's our ONLY FALL SHOW.

Playing covers is always a good time - so long as you enjoy them - and don't over play them. That's why The Tribute happens only periodically (to keep it fresh!). Dub Station's always been feuled by original music, having produced a number of artists in the studio and done countless hours of preproduction work preparing their work for the stage. One new Artist that continues to develop impressively - lyrically & vocally - is Roberto Gell.
His EP "Midnight Ravers" (which you can listen to here, on iTunes) gave us a 5 song preview of his latest, full length CD (free MP3 available at the top of this email): "Work Hard." It's got 12 songs...and the entire set with Roberto Gell will be drawn from it.

The new CD will be delivered from the pressing plant just days before the show, and will be on iTunes by Thanksgiving.

Also appearing this Saturday (opening the 3rd set on 10/22) - with a cameo acappella joint for his upcoming video - is ASN (become a Fan of ASN's Fb page here). A Hip Hop phenomenon in his own right, Amir Nedjadi has taken to the band Dub Station because of its versatility in playing his music as it was written, and adapting it to the Reggae genre.
Now if you want to check out the Dub Station Bob Marley Tribute (featuring Roberto Gell & ASN) Facebook Event Page for Saturday, October 22nd, click through. Plenty of people have confirmed they're attending, and we're aiming to pack the place. So let people know and make your way to Somerville this Saturday.
Johnny D's Music Hall is one of the legendary venues on the East Coast, supporting live music (they don't do a single DJ night) since 1969. The club is located at 17 Holland Street, Davis Square, Somerville. Doors & Showtime for THIS event are at 10pm, but they're a full service restaurant as well, and are open from 5pm (and often before), with a different genre/style of music starting early out, from 7:30-9pm. Dub Station will hit the stage at 10pm sharp, so be there by then. We can't promise Guest List, but we can promise a great time will be had by all. Come ready to party!!!

Online since relatively early in the Internet game (2000), Reggae4i has gone through many incarnations. We're particularly pleased with where it's at now, because the home page has the look and feel we've been looking for. There are Social Networking links, a button to reach the KRucial Reggae label's entire iTunes catalog, and soon there'll be a link to the KRucial YouTube channel.

One of the wisest changes we've made, is to link our domain KRucialReggae.com to Reggae4i.com, so that they both point to the same 'place' or site on the Net.
We have a Blog on Wordpress which is our 'editorial arm' providing philosophical opinion piecees on Reggae pertinent topics.
There's always more to do - the ReggaePR blog & site is something new we're working on, as well as some other more global promotional efforts.

New England is only part of our picture, but you can check out our Facebook Profile page here.

That's right - this simple icon above - which shows up great in Facebook & small, is the harbinger of a new site we're going to launch this Winter. It'll be called ReggaePR.com, and will be oriented towards Artists, Singers, and Players, who are seeking support in their efforts to bring quality Reggae music to the people. I'm re-livicating my energies towards making music available to fans and audiences available to musicians. Selah!
And see you Saturday!!!
