Dub Station Anniversary Show PDF Print E-mail

Celebrating 18 years on stage, the award winning Dub Station band convened some of its latest & greatest singers, and ran a slide show chronicling the band's exploits over the years. It was a memorable event, with the handing out of hard copy books (50+pages) containing over 300 photos, song lists, show posters, etcetera. The group has backed literally hundreds of Artists, and founder Kyle Russell decided it had come time (rather than waiting for the 20th) to immortalize the band's history.

Saturday, May 14th

DUB STATION

Anniversary Show

9pm start time, two live sets to follow

at Johnny D's Music Hall (in Somerville, MA)

This will likely be the band's last public show till the Fall

17 Holland St, across the street from the Davis Sqre T stop

We're looking forward to hosting Roberto Gell, in from California. Last performing to a full house on Veterans Day, 2010, he's got an outstanding abum coming out this year, build out from his previously released EP "Midnight Ravers."

ROBERTO GELL - FREE MP3 - "Work Hard"

Also featured will be Hip Hop & Reggae artist ASN, who's got a stream of singles waiting to come out. With international radio play and a dynamic vocal delivery, he's become a recent regular with Dub Station, boling people over with his rapid fire accapella, as well as dance songs & consious lyrics. Not to be missed.

ASN - FREE MP3 - Road to Success

Classic singer and one of the first to work with Dub Station, Skiffington (pictured below) has a universally loved crooning style - relaxed - and quick to please the audience. He'll be going on early (because of other obligations), so don't be late and miss him.

Another long time singer with Dub Station has been Jem-i, who brings an enormous amount of energy to the stage. He's got originals - some of which were recorded on the landmark album "Forward Ever."

Jem-i (and the other singers) have been joined recently by Sandra D - a songbird we met on the road, in Colorado - who has moved here to study at the Berklee College of Music. She's a soloist, as well as a backup singer, and brings a lot to the stage. She and jem-i are pictured below...

Originally, Jus Goodie was gonna fly in from the Southwest; and Abijah from Kingston, but we're happy to report he's working for a label out of the tri-state area, producing various artists for releases upcoming (with lots of big names).

Last, but not least, is the one they call Dion Knibb (son of Skatalites drummer Lloyd Knibb). Here pictured in Newport, RI (on a gig with Dub Station), Dion represents his directness. With the strongest pipes in the region, Dion delivers classics even more powerfully than some of the original composters. Having charted himself, in Jamaica, Dion's recorded with various groups, and always delivers unforgettable versions of every song he delivers.

SOME OF OUR FAVORITE CDs/ARTISTS

Click below to get the FREE MP3 of "Mama" - a perennial ode to the genuine quality of a mother's love, and that of her son. This album - although 'just' a 7 song EP - got some of highest acclaim of any Dub Station release. Check the 'Our Artists on iTunes' (above, right) to hear (and buy) the whole CD. Sonbeam is also on the "Forward Ever" album.

Shaka Black was one of the most dynamic singers Dub Station ever worked with. This album has only 3 studio tracks, the rest capture the magic of a hundred shows, where arrangements were worked out and the band's dynamic stage sound is showcased. Ever devotional, Shaka let's his love of Jah & people alike show through on this track.
